Interview at Crafton.

When did you find out about the exhibit at Crafton?

I found out about the exhibit two months ago during my visit to California for the summer break and met with the chair of the Fine Arts department of Crafton Hills College, Snezana Petrovic. I asked her if I could continue my studio practice at Crafton Hills College during the summer and to my amazement she agreed and offered me to make a special project at the LRC gallery throughout the summer.

How did you decide what pieces to put in the exhibit? How many pieces will be on display?

There will be seven pieces on display. Most of them are based upon my research project that I am working on for my final thesis paper.

What is your favorite piece of art in the exhibit?

Honestly, they all are my favorite and since I considerately created each one of them, it is difficult to choose one.

What is your favorite thing about being an artist?

You cannot be an artist if you do not think in a different way. I like that individuality and distinctiveness.

Why should people come see the exhibit?

People should come to experience a completely different environment within the gallery. All the art pieces are mixed-media installations with a diverse approach.

Are you still in the MFA program? What has that experience been like?

Yes, I only have a year left in my two and a half years long MFA program. Being in a grad school, especially at my age is very challenging, but I take it as a break from my real life challenges. I enjoy all the discussions, critics, seminars, workshops, studio visits and a lot more. Each day is rejuvenating and helping me grow.

Please share anything else you’d like people to know about you and your exhibit.

You never appreciate your culture or your daily life until you move away from it. Learning and knowing about other cultures, languages, traditions is a great experience that everyone should try in their life if given the opportunity.
